I arrived in Buenos Aires expecting it to be rather cold and finding it rather warm and muggy!  I was greeted at the apartment that I am staying at by a delightful Colombian guy who told me all that needed to be told, and I met the girl who the owns the aparmtment - Anna who is lovely and her insane Yorkie Bida (Spanish for life because she is her life...arrrr)!  I then met a fellow housemate, the most stupid person I have EVER met in my life, Jef!

After some scrambled egg i was ready for bed....the following morning, I woke Jef up as promised, and we went exploring....or rather I went exploring and he tagged along saying the moste stupidly inanae things i have ever heard in my life.....on our travels we came across an intresting market full of the most random things ever like artistic cheese boards and more mate cups then you can imajine....they did sell some rather yummy sweet popcorn though...a definite highlight of the day!

We then hiked back to the flat and generaly collapsed, preparing for the beggining of our spanish course!  We managed to find it without any hiccups and were introduced into the begginers class, taught by a complete battle axe with no sense of humour....it soon became clear that this was not begginer enough for me as the other guy we were joining had allready done a week and both him and Jef had taken spanish classes at school.......where as little Olivia in the corner had done nada!!

Never the less I decided to stick it out, and try a week......see if i could pick it up quick enough and teach little miss grumpy how to at least smile once in a while!!  Tuesday was not much of an improvement on Monday however and I was more than pleased to hear that we had Wednesday off because it was Argentinas indepence day!  I took this opportunity to explore the Palermo area and go and take a stroll in the botanical gardens....which were shut!  Instead I decided to hop back on to the Subte and check out florida street (highlighted in the lonely planet)....turns out its rather hard to tell which way the subte is going when your on the platform and so a long walked ensued back the way I had just rattled, its luck that winter here is so summer like!!  Florida street was great, especially the pronto italiano pizza that I found.....will definatly be returning there!

Anyways back to school.....after Thursdays lesson I had had more than enough of that and so skived on friday and wrote a stern sounding e-mail!  The weekend was spent in San Telemo where there was a market and i finaly managed to get the bracelet made of a fork that i´ve been wanting since forever.....i stocked up on books....walked - a lot and visited the ecological center/park thing which is next to the mankiest brownest river i have ever seen in my life!!

On Sunday Jef left - back to America, lucky for him he was only staying a week.....the sarcasm could have reached muderous levels had he stayed much longer....although it probably would have been completely lost on him anyway!  Hey ho he did provide me with some amusing if perplexing conversations...i shall leave you with one....
Just to set the seen Jeff likes/needs his cofee in the morning and so he is wondring around the flat looking for coffee.....

Jeff -  Is there any coffee in here (i´m in the kitchen)
Me - I have no idea, I don´t have any you could have and everything else is Annas so you´re best off asking her.
Jeff - But whats this?  (Points at kettle)
Me - A kettle.
Jeff - But theres stuff in it (picking it up)
Me - Yes thats water.
Jeff - How do you know?
Me - Because its a kettle and you put water in a kettle.
Jeff - But how do you know its a kettle?
Me - Because thats what a kettle looks like.
Jeff - Looks perplexed - Ok - walks off.
Me - Looks even more perplexed, plus appaled, plus a bit more perplexed!

The End!!

Incase you´re wondring, no coffee did not really improve things!!
