We finally arrived in the metropolis that is Antofagasta and following the instructions of the leaflet of the place we were going to stay we made our way to the appropriate bust stop and got on number 103.....we were mildly suprised as we got further and further out of the city and still hadnt spotted the correct place to get off! Eventually we spotted it and found ourselves in a fairly desolate seaside spot standing near 3 rather large looking clubs! We spotted the cassa in the distance - across what was apprantly the central plazza but looked rather like sand and rubbish to me!! Having settled in and given the resident golden retriever and good scratch we set off back to the city for some lunch and to book our next bus for the following day! Only we missed our stop to get off so we figured the bus would do a loop and we would just wait till we got back to the right stop.....an hour and a half later we were deposted at the bus station at the other side of town waiting for another bus to take us round the houses back to the center of town.....we ended up having lunch at 4.30 a little late even by a Leonards standards!! Lukily the lunch was worth the wait and to my delight there were people in the shopping center on the way there and back who were giving out free hugs (put free hugs campaign into u tube)!!
Our trip back to the cassa was rather less complicated and we were looking forward to the stargazing we had been promised (our whole reason for coming to Antofagasta)....we got back to find that the other people that were ment to be staying hadnt turned up and therefore nada stargazing! Bugger! Oh well there was allways San Pedro!! So we settled down in front of a couple of dvds to my delight one of them was from russia with love....i had been starved of Mr Bond for at least 8 months!!
The following morning we were given a lift to the bus station and began a long rather uneasy (had we infact missed the bus) wait for the bus! At long last it arrived and to our suprise we met some people we had met in La Serena also travelling to San Pedro!!
