Feeling very relieved to be away from the horrible hospital we headed for the beautiful Coramandal peninsular in beautiful sunshine! We made our way along the coast up to coramandal town where we enjoyed an icecream before heading over to the other side of the peninsular to Paihia where we checked into a hostel before heading to hot water beach.
Sadly the tide was too high (at low tide) to be able to dig a hole to sit in, so we went paddling instead, digging our feet under the sand to get to the boiling water! I couldn't believe how hot it was, it would have been a very funny sight to see as I did the twist to bury my feet before leaping several feet into the air as my feet were scolded and then landing back in the sea only to get soaked by an enourmous wave!! It was a truly surreal experience!
That evening I satisfied my desire to cook somthing by roasting some vegetables, including the ubiquitous pumpkin and new zealands Kumara potaoes - which are purple! All this cooking was necessary for our stenuous hike the next day to Cathedral cove - throughly exhausting...too many hills! Cathedral cove is a big arch in a rock which was novel! We then headed back to Auckland for our third and final time....
