Our journey to Cape Reigna was long, wet and fairly unimpressive compared to the south island (spoilt)! The fantastic chippy in Mangonui, reccomended by Sue, was a definate highlight!!! Heading on we stopped at 90 mile beach which is well....long....and ......sandy! Onwards to our Northen most point of NZ along the as yet unsealed end bit of highway 1 (yes the biggest high way in NZ - don't worry they are working on it)!! Here there is a decidly ugly lighthouse, it is also the place where the pacific ocean meets the Tasman sea - you can litteraly see the waves crashing into each other which was quite amusing to watch!!
Then it was back down the increadibly bumpy bit of highway one, on to bitumen (thank God) and onwards to our overnight stopping place Kaitia - not much to write home about allthough they do have a pack and save!
