Ha!  Just like to shock you!  I'm talking sperm whales - the story of how they got their name is just plain silly: when they managed to land the first one (damn fool idea in the first place if you ask me - if i came across somthing that big I would have the sense to leave well alone) anyway when they landed it they cut its head open (feeling queesy yet) and all this milky white stuff came out (now you are) and so they presumed this is where the whales reproductive organs were!  Now we all know that a mans blood supply is only sufficient to be directed to his brain OR his reproductive organs at one time, so perhaps if both were situated in the same area this would improove things, but needless to say those whale hunters were wrong!  They're not quite sure what the large amount of white (oil or somthing) is for - lots of theories but knowone knows for sure, all they do know is that the sperm guys were wrong!  The name stuck anyway!

Anyway the reason I know any of this is that we tottered off to Kaikoura so that i could brave trechourous seas to watch whales sneezing and then flicking their tails in the air as they dissapear again (SO AWESOME)!  Whilst waiting for the sperm whales to appear we spotted all sorts of bird life (pointed out by our very informative guide - knows all about how the sperm whale got its name she does) including the great Albatross (or somthing) thats got the biggest wingspan of all birds begginging with A (somthing like that)!  THEN on the way back what do we see??!  DOLPHINS, yey, we saw dusky dolphins all round the boat leaping out of the water doing flips and apparantly we also saw common dolphins (apparantly very rare - they arn't very good at naming things these sea faring folk are they?!) - i don't know if i actually saw these uncommon-conmmoners however they were all dolphins to me!!

After all that excitement we got back in the chav-mobile and headed off to Blenheim......
