And so we arrived at our final destination with our tour group in kunming (sniff sniff)!! Lol a cat has just settled down on top of my computer!!...Neway back to the point....Once Kathryn and I had got a place to stay the following night and a bus ticket to Lijiang we set off to the local - very busy park with our tour group and ended up in a french cafe munching on chocolate and banana crepes - how very chinese!! After a meander around a market we headed back to our hotel ready for our final dinner! We had dinner whilst watching the dances of the local minority groups (at least i think thats what it was meant to be)...in reality it was far too loud to talk and frankly i think i could have dressed up in the costumes and done a better job - thats really saying somthing!! Once you got used to the noise we were able to communicate on some level and so ended our final evening and began our last nights sleep in luxury!!
The next day we went to the flower and bird market with Lis and Rene, which was really cool.....distinct lack of fish and birds though!! We then wandered west (with the aid of my compass) to the west pagoda.....and then turned round and looked at the east one!! Kathryn and I then had to hurry back to check out of the hotel and check into the same hotels youth hostel just accross the courtyard!......We then realised that we really ought to sort our lives out a bit because we have to be in HK by the fourth!! For some reason this took the rest of the day! When we finally made it to bed we got to our dorm to find a very strange korean man.....who seemed very pleased if a little perplexed to be sharing a 3 bed dorm with 2 english girls....it wasn't untill i put my rucksack on one of the beds that his confusion was explained....he then told us that there was a japanese man sleeping there....somehow the hostel had managed to book four of us of mixed sex into a 3 bed dorm when they have a same sex dorm policy!! We then had to go back to the hotel and get a new room which worked thank goodness!
In the morning it was an early start to catch a bus to Lijiang (strangely the same one as the rest of the people on the second part of the tour we were on - were not stalking them honest)....9 hours away....well it would have been had the bus not broken down half way there which meant that we arrived in Lijiang in the dark, absolutely no idea where we were and with no where to stay!! Lukily Kathryn had the number of the place we wanted to stay at and we managed to find a phone.....after a very garbled and confussing conversation with about 8 different people who colectively knew about 16 words of english we managed to get across where we were and were sent a taxi to pick us up!! We got escorted to a lovely four bed dorm with only us in it...and then taken off for much needed egg flied lice!! Our heads hit our pillows exhausted but looking for to exploring lijiang the next day........
