Hi guys
So I am all booked up for Christmas and New Years..!
How early?! Very early! You have to if you want to go to Sydney! All the hostels have been fully booked for most the year for the period between Christmas and New Years!!
Thankfully I have a very lovely (and pretty) friend conveniently based in Sydney so I can go and stay for free... Katie!!! Woo hoo!!!!
So I am booked to fly to Sydney at 5.30pm on 23rd December 2007, land at 8.00pm, then leave Sydney at 9.30pm on 2nd January 2008 and get back to Brisbane at 9.55pm
Christmas this year is going to be sooo weird. I'm dreading it in most ways but kind of excited a little bit. Christmas for me is always a mission.. One I love dearly but nether the less.. It's a mission! Christmas at my mums and then afternoon/tea time at my dads and then busy busy in the evening.. I never get to sit down!!! This year though I will be on Bondi beach, in the height of summer, in a bikini throwing yet another shrimp on the barby with a million other backpackers!!! It's going to be one to remember that's for sure!!!
I'm not booking into a club or to any event for New Years though as pretty much everyone I have stayed in contact with whilst travelling are going to be grouped together somewhere around the Harbour Bridge drinking and chilling out. So I will meet up with them in the day time to watch the events unfold and count down to the new year.
Well it will certainly make a change from the usual new years; working in the pub, doing the house crawl.. Fighting over who is going where!!
Another thing to tick off my "things to do before I am 30" list!!
Anyway, all is well over here. Stef and I are loving the luxurious flat. Money is a bit tight but we're thinking about renting out one of the rooms so we can half our rent payments.. Which sucks a bit but hey, we need the money. Although saying that Tanya (who we lived with in Cairns) is talking about coming up from Melbourne to stay with us for a few weeks and will therefore be contributing towards the rent so we might not have to do anything yet. We'll see, that girl cant decide where she wants to live! She's forever leaving Cairns.. Going back, leaving Cairns. Going back! I give up! I never know where she is!! She's looking at flying up tomorrow though so we'll see what her plans are.
So my plans have changed.. YET AGAIN!
I have decided that I am going to come home next year. I wanted to find sponsorship here in Brisbane and stay for my second year but in all honesty, if I am going to live in a nice apartment and work a 9-5 job, I would rather be doing it in England where I can be with my friends and family. I love it here, don't get me wrong but I miss you all so much.
So.
The lease on my apartment terminates on 09th April 2008. I am hoping in between now and then I will finish off my Australian adventures so that when my lease ends I will be ready to leave. I can visit Surfer's Paradise and Byron Bay anytime really as they aren't too far away, which means I have completed the east coast of Australia.. Well apart from Sydney which I will see at Christmas and New Years and will probably head back there before I leave to see Katie again if she's still there. I still have Ayres Rock and all those bits in the middle of Australia to do so I am going to book a weeks holiday and fly to Alice Springs, travel with a company on a package tour all the way up to Darwin and then I will fly back to Brisbane. So the only place left that I want to visit is Perth. Either I will visit there and then fly to Sydney in April or I will try and get over there for a long weekend some time between now and April. Maybe a mid week break could work out cheaper... we'll see.
So once I have done all of Australia, I will fly to New Zealand for a two weeks intense package tour which will take me the whole way around both islands and will include black water rafting, glacier hikes, diving/snorkelling, whale watching, dolphin feeding and many more that I cant think of at the moment!
Then I will head to Fiji for a holiday to get over my New Zealand experience!!! I will lay on the beach most of the time but hope to see the real Fiji as well.. Did you know there are 300 Fijian islands?! No me neither until the other day (getting very clever, I'll have you know!).
Then after my week's break in Fiji I will hopefully fly over to Thailand where I will stay for about 4 weeks and travel to Malaysia and Cambodia and then all the way up to Vietnam, seeing as much as Thailand as I can and then finally heading home. Should be back mid June some time.
What a plan.
We'll see how many times I change my mind between now and then!!!
No, it wont change, well the venue's and time scales may vary but I am definitely coming home. I have already started putting money aside for all these plans and will be getting my bond back in April ($1100) which will help towards spending money
Not much else to update you all on. Lauren left on Sunday which was really upsetting. She really didn't want to go and Charlotte desperately didn't want her to leave. We all had a lovely bbq together at Charlottes though to send her off, there were many tears!!
Vicky and Gerry, a couple we lived with in Cairns, are staying with us for the next 10 days. They had to be out of their apartment but still have a few days left here before finishing off their world tour and then heading home in time for Christmas. I'm so pleased that they have decided to stay with us as we haven't had much time to spend with them since being in Brisbane and they are both really lovely people. So it's worked out really well.
We're all off to Southbank tonight to the cinema as it's cheap Tuesday!
Anyway, hope you are all well... only 8 months to go until I see you all again!!!
Oh before I go I just want to give a massive shout out to Chris Hacking, a very dear friend of mine who I worked with all those many years ago... we lost contact for years and years but thanks to myspace I managed to track him down!! (How dare he think he could get away) Anyway, Chris got married a few weeks ago and me being me completely missed the date. So Chris I would like to say.. Congratulations sweetie, I am so very very pleased for you, it seems your day was perfect in every way and your new wife is absolutely beautiful. I wish you both the best of luck for the future and cant wait for the day when I get to meet Chris jnr!!
That's it for now..
Much love to you all xxxx

Plus I will be due a years tax back money which should be a couple of thousand, plus also my Super money (which is a pension find which back packers use as a saving scheme, your employer pays in a certain % a week into it) when I leave the country which should be a couple of thousand as well...
