Got the early bus out of Palenque and had a quick 5 hour bus ride to San Cristobal, in the mountains of Mexico. We have spent the day here and it is beautiful. It is full of churches and really nice buildings, there is a fantastic market and the people are really nice. Mexico is reminding us more and more of Bolivia and we are loving it.
For those of you who have never seen or heard of piñatas before, they are basically paper filled dolls or shapes that you hang up at kids birthday parties, they then get blind folded and take a swing at the hanging piñata with a baseball stick. You get one turn each and then finally one lucky person gets to smash the piñata open and a tonne of sweets fall to the ground. Then everyone scrambles to get as many sweets as they can. They are also used at any fiestas or parties. I did my first one last year when visiting Epi`s family and it was great fun!!!! I wish we had them in the UK.
We still have pretty bad feelings about Guatemala and I think it will take a few more weeks to put the whole thing behind us, but we are still having fun and getting on with it!
We got loads of great pictures today, both of the buildings and the people.
Tonight we are off on the night bus to Oaxaca, further in to the mountains!
