Today the bus set off at 5am, on time! We had to be there an hour before departure, so by the time we got on the bus we were ready to sleep again. The journey was really good again we did spend most of the day falling in and out of sleep - not much else to do on a 12 hour bus ride! I have started reading another book, I think this is my 6th in the last month and a half, which is a record for me! But it makes the time go a lot quicker.
We passed through the border with no problems and on to and through Honduras. When we arrived in El Salvador we stopped for lunch at a petrol station, but this was no ordinary petrol station! The staff were so helpful and friendly (imagine that in a service station!) and the food was great and CHEAP! We both had a huge meal, really tasty too for $8 US. We had not realised that El Salvador switched to the US $ in 2001, which makes life for us a lot easier, but I bet they are regretting that decision!!!
We got to San Salvador, the capital of El Salvador at 4pm, right on time. The hotel we are staying in is attached to the Tica bus station and they do special rates, it is $12 per person. The place is basic, but nice and clean and really friendly. We walked out of the hotel and down the street and found some great restaurants and coffee shops. Again everyone we saw or met was so friendly, I am liking this place already.
We leave at 6am tomorrow and we don't have to be at the station until 5.30am, so a lie in for us!!!! We should be in Guatemala City by midday.
