Where I stayed
The journey from Arenal to Monteverde was great and the rain has actually finally stopped! We still weren´t able to get a full view of the volcano, but at least we could see some of it! The "jeep-boat-jeep" that we had been sold actually turned out to be uncomfortable "small van-boat-another uncomfortable small van", but the views were amazing and it was a nicer journey than the 7 hours on the public bus around the lake.
Our hostel is great, the owner David is really helpful and we finally got a private room with en suite for $24, so it was quite reasonable and that includes a great breakfast, free Internet (which is impossible to get on!) and free tea and coffee all day.
We decided what activities we wanted to do, which was difficult as there is so much to do here, but everything costs a bomb
We went for lunch as we were starving after our 6am alarm call, but we despite being really nice we nearly died at the price. We have decided to cook for the rest of the time here!
The butterfly gardens were good, it was nice to see some of the really unusual butterflies and my favourites, the Morpho butterfly which are huge. We have seen then a few times in the wild now, but this was a chance to get a really good photo. We decided to come back later to see the frogs as we were told that most of them are nocturnal - but one hint if you do go - you can return at night with the same ticket and get a guided tour at no extra cost. We did this and it was fantastic, but we wish we had taken the opportunity to go in the daytime as well as some of the most colourful ones only come out in the daytime.
We had a great guide and it was a really interesting tour, it was really hard to take photos as you are not allowed to use a flash, but we did manage to get a few.
We just had a sandwich for dinner as we couldn't afford anything else!!!!

. We finally agreed to do a nature walk in the morning (last chance to spot a Toucan) and Zip wiring in the afternoon. We also decided to go today to visit the butterfly and frog gardens and just have a look around. We went for lunch as we were starving after our 6am alarm call, but we despite being really nice we nearly died at the price.
