Mancora to Quito
Entry 72 of 115 | show all | print this entry |
We finally got a bus to Tumbes and then a taxi from there to the border of Ecuador (Huaquillas). The guys in the taxi were nice enough, but tried to scare us to death with stories of robbery etc, so thta we would pay them more money for them to look after us. We didn´t fall for it, we eventually got out of the taxi and walked the rest of the way. But it had still worked out considerably cheaper than getting a bus across the border, so we were happy and it was an experience!!! We made our way to Panamerica and booked our bus to Quito for 4.30pm tonight, it takes 14 hours and costs $10 - yes we are back on $US now, so it is so much easier!
After booking our bus ticket we then still had to make our way to the border as we we stamped out of Peru, but now in to Ecuador. It is really strange as there is a whole town and 4km between the 2 border posts and in between it is just crazy. I have not felt in danger at all, but it is a bit overwhelming. Anyway, we now have our stamp for Ecuador and are waiting for our bus.
It is HOT!!!!!
