I had a great plan that as we had plenty of time before our home-stay that I would take Epi into deepest darkest Peru. Well, not quite, we had planned to travel down to Cuzco along the Andes, a little off the usual Gringo trail, but ti sounded really nice.

Well we did the first leg of the journey last night, almost 8 hours, up dirt roads and over the Andes, only to find out that there is no way to go on!!!! We could go sideways, but whatever we do we are going to end up travelling over ground we have already covered and will have to go back to Lima!!!!

So we are spending a day in this rather large city in the Andes and then heading to Cuzco via Lima, Nazca and many other cities we have already visited!! It is going to take nearly 30hours, but the buses are comfortable and you do get lots of movies on them so we are going to buy a load of junk food and have a 30hour movie fest!

We are disappointed that we couldn't get to see more of central Peru, but the roads get destroyed at this time of year, so it just is´nt going to happen. We will get into Cuzco earlier than planned, so we can rest after our mammoth trip.

We had a bit of a result though, we have walked all around this town trying to find another way to carry on our travels and on route we found a fantastic coffee and cake shop and as I am no longer feeling sick I need to stock back up on calories. We had 2 cakes, massive ones, and 2 large coffees for 8 soles, which is about 1.50p. Maybe we should stay a few more days after all!!!

So, we will be out of communication for the next few days and then on Sunday we start our home-stay, so we wont be able to write as much then either. We will live and eat all our meals with our families and also have 4 hours of lessons at the school everyday. I think I will be sleeping the rest of the time as I will be exhausted trying to speak Spanish for that long and the more I sleep the less I will have to converse!!! Only kidding, but I am not planning to get to the Internet everyday, unless I don't like my family.
