Today we were up early to get the bus to Tarabuco, which is a small indigenous village about 1 hour outside of Sucre. They have an indigenous market there every Sunday selling local artisan goods and loads of other stuff too.
The journey there was through the hills and some amazing views again. We arrived about 10.30am and had 3 hours to explore, which was more than enough time. The Market is set amongst the streets of Tarabuco and it is full of wonderful colours and smells. There are lots of traditional Bolivan goods, which are slightly overpriced for the tourists! But also the real Bolivian stalls where they cook the food and sell it to the locals and the tourists, if they want it, for next to nothing. We had a huge plate of a pasta dish, quite spicy too, for 15 pence each, it really is another world!
Took loads of photos at the market, whilst trying not to offend the people. We were also amused to see that at any such market in England you would have a huge car park, here they have a huge Donkey park, it looked like you actually pay to have the guy watch over your Donkey whilst you shop. Then you load it up and back home! Going to try and put the pictures on as they tell the story better than I can! Taking our first overnight bus in Bolivia tonight - aaaahhhhh!!!! We think it is all paved roads (we hope it is) so we should be ok!!!! More thumbnails ...
