We should have had another 23hr bus journey to get here, but it only took 20hrs, what a bonus! The bus actually wasn`t that bad, we had 2 movies, so that killed the time a little.
The map pin has us in the right place, but I wish we had been able to go straight through Paraguay as it would have been a LOT quicker - but guess what, Epi needs a visa for Paraguay!!! Did I mention already that we have to get him a visa for Bolivia too - seems no one wants the Americans in their country, I am making no comment!!!

We had no hostel booked so decided to get a coffee and figure it all out as information was anything but helpful! We were lucky as someone spotted us and came to tell us about their new hostel, with free taxi. They didn`t have to say anymore, we heard free and were already picking up our bags!

The hostel is quite nice and has its own pool too, as well as free pool table, Internet and breakfast - what more could we want! We have a private room and our own bathroom again, so we are doing really well with the hostels.

We showered and changed and headed out to explore the town. Salta is known as Salt la linda - Pretty Salta and it is just that. There is a telefrico (cable car) - it seems Argentina likes its telefricos! And yes we went up it, I am actually getting good at these things, no screaming at all this time! The views were great from the top, but I am glad we didn`t walk up, it was a long way!

The town is quite pretty too, there is a nice park, with a lake and boats. Then in town the main plaza (Plaza 9 julio) has some beautiful buildings around it and a really pretty church. We had a good, cheap meal at the Mercado Central - it was very hot, bustling and there were a lot of cockroaches, but I know I need to get more used to this as we head north, so I kept quite and ate my meal.

We walked back to the hostel and the tiredness finally caught up with me and I was out of it! So I missed laying by the pool for yet another day! Epi then took us on a nice mystery tour later in the day. We were supposed to be heading to the supermarket only a few blocks away, but we went the wrong way and an hour later in the boiling heat we had still not seen one supermarket. We finally found it and got home safely. There is nothing like exploring the neighborhood you are staying in, I think the locals thought we were mad walking around in the heat and quite clearly lost!
