When we arrived in Punta Del Diablo we were tired from our lack of sleep on the bus from Montevideo. After 4 nights there, we had quickly got out of the habit of carrying our backpacks around everywhere and now for some reason they seemed heavier than ever. This could have been due to the fact that we had eaten very little, were tired and hot. To add to the stress we had no where to stay and no idea of where to start looking. We tried a hostel/hotel that Epi had read about, but it was full. We tried the information places, but they didnīt give us any help. So we had to walk back along the road to the hostels and try there. First one had nothing and finally the next one had a bed - well they had lots of beds, only they were in split dorms and the hostel was probably the worst I have seen since I started travelling!!!! But as it was the only place we knew about we took it. I was near to tears by now and Epi is lucky he still had his head at this point (tired, hungry and in a dump is not a good combination for me!)
We ate dinner and then decided to walk back into town. The one thing I have to say about Punta Del Diablo is that it is beautiful, and we decided it was worth staying in a dump to be here! We decided on our walk to try everything we could in order to stay, so started asking around. There were loads of signs saying "cabana" or "aquilo" but most of them said sorry we are full! Eventually we decided to head back and Epi said I will try this one last place with a sign, it was a restaurant and neither of us were very hopeful! But we couldn'tīt believe our luck when we found out not only was there a place, but it was an apartementito (very small apartment) for a couple at $100US for the 3 nights - so within our budget too! The lady called her husband and fetched us to the place, which was literally at the back of the hostel (dump)! The guy in the hostel was really nice about us leaving, I think he probably knew I wasnīt too happy there! So we settled into our new place and celebrated with a bottle of wine!!!
We have spent 3 nights in this great little beach town
We leave tonight which we are sad about and also our bus journey out if here is not that straight forward. Our bus tickets donīt go from the little beach town, we have to catch the bus on the main road at the junction for Punta Del Diablo - but we are a bot worried that the bus wonīt stop for us!!! We have to catch a bus out to the main road now as there are no buses at the time we want to go. So we have a 1.5hr wait on the side of the main road until the bus comes (hopefully) at 10.40pm!!!!
Crossing over to Brazil tonight and onto Torres - where we couldnīt find any accommodation on line either, so fingers crossed we get lucky again!
Cabanas at Punta Del Diablo
. So Epi went off in search of better accommodation and I cooked dinner in the fly infested kitchen. The guy who owned the place actually told us if we dirtied the kitchen we needed to clean up - I should have asked him why and how would we know if we had dirtied it????!!!We ate dinner and then decided to walk back into town. One of the beaches at Punta Del Diablo
. It is sand roads, huge sandy beaches and tiny little wooden shacks everywhere. There are some great little bars and restaurants and a really laid back atmosphere. I would definitely come back here for a holiday, but make sure you have somewhere booked first as you could end up doing a lot of walking! We leave tonight which we are sad about and also our bus journey out if here is not that straight forward. Someone is definitely looking after you! Not sure I will be able to follow your travels when I am in Goa, so I will have another exhausting journey to catch up with you on my return!! My email address will change while I am away, will let you have the new one as soon as I get back, Love to you both, Mum.

It would be nice to get beaches that quiet in Europe!
Glad you are still having a good time.
