Thanks for the advice, the Mercado del Puerto was great, but haven´t found the other one as yet! We are heading up the coast in a couple of days to check out Punta Del Diablo. Did you have trouble finding affordable accommodation in Uruguay?

A must do is 'El Mercado del Puerto' in anytime, and 'El Mercado de la Abundancia' at night.
And try some beaches at the east like 'La Paloma' and if you like a sort of hippie place you can't miss Punta del Diablo, a great fisher town.
