As this was our last day in Valdivia we had decided to head out to the beach at nearby Niebla. It was a short bus journey away, 17km for 30p!
As we arrived we soon discovered where Niebla got its name from. Niebla in spanish means fog - and hanging over the whole town was this thick fog. It was really strange as it was about 11.30am and really hot and everywhere else was clear blue skies, apart from this town and its peninsula. We took some photos from the bus as we approached the town and then wondered down to the beach to see if it was foggy down there - it was!
But within less than 30 minutes everywhere was clear and it was the most amazing clear, blue sky day.
We spent most of the day on the beach, but this was our first real day in the sun, so after a few hours weŽd had enough, even Epi was a little burnt. As we are travelling to Santiago tonight we donŽt have access to a shower, so we opted for the local version and took a freezing cold shower in the public toilets - only 20p for the privilege! It soon cooled you down!
Then time for the very scenic bus ride back to Valdivia, even better than on the way here as we could see everything now! This part of the coast is much prettier than Valdivia itself, well worth the trip.
