Today we had an early breakfast before we boarded a bus to Nha Trang. Nha Trang is located on the east coast of Vietnam and provides us with our first proper opportunity to go to the beach! Along the way we stopped twice - once on the outskirts of Dalat on the side of a hill (when the photos are up you'll hopefully see the view); the other outside the remains of past king! John took the opportunity to try "birds nest" softdrink - as tasty as you can imagine that it would be!
We arrived in Nha Trang at 12.45pm and checked into the Nha Trang Beach Hotel ($16US including breakfast) with a beautiful sea view. We went around the corner to Pho Cali (a little vietnamese restaurant recommended by The Loney Planet) and enjoyed soup, stirfry and stew, and a beer each, for about $6. We returned to the hotel via a clothes shop so Little Petal could buy a shirt and sarong and then we asked the hotel to launder all our clothes for about $5.
We booked a flight to Danang for Thursday (this is the closest airport to Hoi An where we will be having some clothes made). Next we discovered Bia Hoi (the cheap beer place we referred to earlier this week) where we found a large jug of beer for less than $1. We booked a day trip to the surrounding islands for tomorrow, before discovering Crazy Kim's cocktail happy hour and savoured a Pina Colada. We went to the Louiseville Brewery for a beer on the waterfront and then had fresh seafood for dinner. Only problem in Nha Trang is that ATM's don't work so you have to use hotels to get any money......we went back to the hotel at about 9.00pm, watched "In Her Shoes" (Shirley McLane was brilliant) before bed at midnight.
