After another early start, we boarded a bus for Dalat at 7.15am. To prepare ourselves for the 6 hours of driving (8 hours in total) we stocked up on food....rolls, sausages, cheese. The journey began with us winding our way through the northern provinces of HCMC, before moving through a variety of different landscapes. There were some parts that were traditional rice paddies, there was jungle, but mostly there was hills. This was quite strange to see given that the parts of Vietnam and Cambodia that we have seen to date are all flat!
We stopped to visit the "happy room" (local version of the toilet) at a petrol station about an hour and half into the journey. Then at about 12, we stopped for lunch in a relatively remote little town. By 3.30pm, we were in Dalat. Apparently many relate the Dalat landscape to that of the French Alps....having not been to France ourselves, we must just take their word for it!
Tonight we've walked through the night markets, been the only westerners in a Vietnames restaurant and walked around part of the beautiful lake. We were careful to take a photo of the replica eiffel tower aswell.
Having booked a 1 day tour around the sights of Dalat for tomorrow, it's time for an early night. We've realised that we've now been away for 1 week....it feels like much more given what we've managed to fit in!
