We found a sweet little campsite on the edge on Te Aroha, the town itself was so say, completely, one hundred per cent, totally, full off, crazy, wierd barking mad lunatics!!!! this is no exageration!! i promise, i am not a rude person, and neither is Baz, but we were both totally freaked out by the going ons in this town!!!! firstly, we are minding our own business when looking at CD's in a shop, when.............a man on his .........hands and knees?????? starts meowwing and prowling like a cat at me??????????? so when i cut a strage look at him, he tells me i have to look away,?? SO I DO????????what am i thinking of, why am i doing as he tells me??????? so i look back and he's still doing the whole cat routne on the floor at me, we are talking about a grown man in his early fourties!!!!! so i look at the shop keeper, whose chin is hitting the ground, so i try to get Baz's attention who is in music mode, face down into a cd, not aware of a thing!! so then i get a bit stroppy with this guy, WHAT??? i ask him at which point he gets up and walks out??? so the shop keeper laughs nervously, so i carry on looking at CD's, then......Baz turns around and asks, "why is there a guy outside pretending to be a cat in the street?" I reply, i know, but it's long story, i'll tell you later,!!! so then we go to the supermarket where this guy is having a full on 2 way conversation with him self???? andthen when we get back to the campsite, i sat on the swing, the woman came out and told me i had to get off?? so i stood on the trampoline and she again came out and told me to get off, so i went to climb the ladder and she came out and told me i couldnt, i wouldnt mind but Baz was into everything, allowed to go up tree's climb ladders and i was just stood there, so i turned to her and said what about Baz, " he's fine" Hmmm!!!! that was it, Baz was in stitches laughing at me!!!!! So anyway, we had some food, watched some tv and went to bed, the next day we got up early and walked to the top of Mt Te Aroha, really cool walk, the top is 956meters up, so a really good walk, we were climbimg rocks and tramping over trees and using tree roots to pull ourselves up, it was ace fun, then we walked all the way down again and collapsed at the campsite.
Peak from Te Aroha
We stayed here for 2 nights!!!! The walk was good, but the town is well weird!!!!!!
