We have been learning the lingo!!!! heres some guidance on Thai if ever you find yourself out here-
* All sentances finish with Kah if your female and Kap if your male
Sawadee Kah (female, replace with Sawadee Kap if your male)- HELLO
Sabaidee Kah (always the same as above in every sentance)- HOW ARE YOU?
Kapun Kah - THANKYOU
Nin chang yai Kah - ONE CHANG LARGE PLEASE
Chang is the beer we drink!!!
Fire show again!!
! So this seems all we need to know to get us by and it works great!!!!
And another word i have learnt is FURAH which means foreigner, but i dont know if it is a correct thai word or, as i was led to believe, like a slang word, a label, and i dont think its said in fondness, so i always listen out and so far i have not heard anyone say it about me and Baz.
On Klong nin beach at night they have fire shows, really cool, we were watching one the other night and the sky behind was also lighting up over the horizon over sea with a lightening storm, it was amazing, this guy fire dancing with that behind, truely brilliant!!!
Baz has hired a moped, well, to tell you the truth we both hired mopeds but if i hadnt have taken mine back after five minutes which is all it was, i wouldnt be typing this now, i was lethal!! A big liability to Thai roads, and Baz was fine when i said i didnt want the moped!!!! So we have driven, me on the back of Bazs moped all round the island now, inland up roads and tracks we didnt know where there so its been really cool. We have been up to the british bar for an english breakfast one morning when we had seriuos hangovers!!
Fire Show on the Beach
!We continue to meet some lovely couples while we're here, we have met a couple from Essex who were barking, probably why we got on so well with them, we have also met a couple who are staying next door to us in our hotel and been out for a meal with them, and had some late night drinks.
The locals continue to be sooooo lovely, we went for a mountain side meal, Baz took us up on the moped to this restaurant overlooking the sea and it had gorgeous views, well, the meal we ordered was lovely, it was hot!! very hot!! but lovely!! and when we finished our meals, our plates were full of lots of tiny, red, very bloody hot chillies, and our mouths were on fire, but we smiled and said the meal was lovely whilst breathing fire and thinking of selling tickets on the beach and doing our own show, well obviously the lady could see we were in pain and i'm sure it wasn't the pools of sweat falling from us, and our red twisted faces, so, she bought us out a dish, complimentary of the house, which would cool our mouths down, well have you heard of the saying, once bitten, twice shy, we were both looking at this dish thinking do we really want to risk any more heat, but ya know, polite, tight british upper lip, of course we will!!!!and do ya know what, it was gorgeous, it was coconut and sweetcorn, and you mix it together with a pinch of salt and a spoonful of sugar and it is truely tasty, and it works!!!
Lads from White Rock
! It does stop the fire breath!!And the other night we were in Ottos (you've heard me mention Ottos before, we do love it there) and we were in pool matches again, shock horror, and at midnight, we were starving, so the kitchen was all closed up, but they still went in and cooked us burgers and chips, how cool are they!!!!
Also, the other night, Cabana, the bar next to our hotel, its been open for 2 years, had an opening night????!!!??? and it was cheap drinks and a free Bar B Q and thai curries and rice, well, we went to support the opening night, and all the other bar staff from the other bars were in there to, so it was a really good and cheap night!!!
We are now staying in White Rock Resort as we have to keep moving on to get a good room for the right price, so we have the comfiest bed ever, with gorgeous white clean sheets and duvet, changed everyday, we get coffee to our room in the morning, we have all the english football matches on our tv, so Baz is made up, we have our own little balcony area, and its ace, and we have friends who are staying to until the end of the month and its a lovely atmosphere, and because we have a fridge in our room we can buy salad and stay in watch movies on the movie channel too!!!!
I have not just spent my days getting drunk, i have taken ooooh, 10 mins out and asked for some cultural gossip, but there wasn't much, but what there was, was about the King and Queen, well, we had already noticed that in houses out here, you know like in your front room at home over the fire place you may have a nice photo or a picture of ya children, well here, in there houses, in the main living space, they have huge photos of the King and Queen, taking up most of the wall, well i dont reckon our Queen would ever be that privalidged, anyway, it just so happens that, noone, and i mean absolutely noone will talk bad of the King and Queen, cause if you say somthing like, she looks plump in that photo, you get locked up for it, you cannot utter a bad word about them, so it all became clear to me and Baz, we had this incident in Bangkok, where Baz leant against this surface, you know, glass top with pictures underneath, didnt really pay attention to it, and the woman in this office we were in went stark crazy mad when Baz leant on it, shouting at Baz, all i could make out was clean, and then she was pointing, and we realised then that she was shouting Queen and Baz had sat on a photo of the Queens head!!!!!!!!! So at the time we had a giggle about it, its only just dawned on us how serious this was what he did, but we still find it funny!!! And there is thing about the King before the one now, it was the currents King's younger brother, well he was found shot in his bedroom, well, noone, and again i mean noone will get into a conversation with you about it, it is a completely hushed subject over here, forbidden to be talked about or printed in papers or magazines, its a closed subject. So i'm getting a bit scared that i may have talked too much about them so if all goes quiet you know i'm probably rotting in a thai jail!!!! only joking!!!!!
We are most probably going to stay on Klong nin until the about 3rd of december, then we will go to Kual Lumper and then over to Hongkong, i am currently in the process of faxing an office in Hongkong to change our route as we dont think it is such a good idea anymore to go to pap new guinea, but it maybe that we have also got to drop Japan but we are not sure yet, but it does mean we have a run of cities coming, Kuala Lumper, Hongkong, Shanghai, Beijing, Tokyo (maybe) and then New Zealand for 3 months, so we are making the most of the beach and the sun and the holiday feeling before we go fullspeed in the cities.
