Firstly I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone for helping me make this trip possible. From Sharn with whom I wouldnt be able to get to the UK, to Sonia for letting me invite myself on her OE, to the best darn travel agents in the world in Milford for all their support and listening to me harp on about my luggage, and to my family and friends.
But most important of all a huge thanks to my parents for letting me move home to help me save some cash for this trip....without their help i probably would only be going as far as ...Taupo.
In all honesty i dont think the reality of leaving has hit me yet, yes, Im all packed and ready to go but as you all know my bags have been packed for about 6 months in anticipation...talk about organised. I dont think it will really hit until I am safely buckled in that plane seat and balling my eyes out as the plane pulls away from the airport.
One thing I do know is that I am going to miss everyone like crazy when I go. So if any of you happen to come to London look me up, you know you are always most welcome to stay.
Today my parents took me to Mission Bay as a last chance to spend some time together before I leave. We visited the Takapuna markets on the way and had lunch at this awesome Italian Place....if any of you happen to dine at Saint Lucia order the Gnocchi....its well worth it.
We ended the outing with a stop at Movenpick before heading home...it was great to soak up the sun and spend time with my family. A huge thanks to Mum and Dad for a great last day.
Before i end this entry i just thought I would explain the picture at the top of me and the rock. On leaving my job at Air NZ the guys at Milford Holidays threw a leaving do in my honour.. they presented me with this huge present wrapped in a map of the world and told me that it was for me to take on my travels and that wherever I went I had to take a photo of me and their pressie.
I almost died when they gave it to me cos it weighed a tonne and i was panicking about my already overweight luggage. I opened the box to find two huge garden boulders in this box...i just cracked up laughing. Underneath these boulders were vouchers for a flight on the London eye and a London bus tour..awesome!
So guys although Im not quite prepared to sacrifice the duvet im taking or one my 5 jackets for a boulder.....it will live on forever in this blog !
So this brings me to the end of this first entry. Keep checking back for the latest update on my travels and for those who asked I promise I will upload the photos of Sonia, May and I at Heathrow with our masses of luggage!
Big hugs and kisses to everyone im leaving behind....love you all.....but
NZ2 Auckland to London here i come!
