After our bargain Lonely Planet purchase we've been able to plan our trip much better as it gives so much more info on transport. So instead of stopping off in different places to get to Krabi, our next destination, we've decided to stop an extra night here (making the most of the seafood - yum yum!) and then head straight to Krabi tomorrow.
Our trip to the bus station was fine, it's not far town, walkable distance just at the very end of the road that the night market is on and then right, heading away from the station. There's a hugly busy crossroads with a sign saying Bus Terminal and then just on your right we spotted a couple of rows of seats with people in them and a couple of ticket windows behind and guessed this was the Bus Terminal. Blink and you could walk straight past it!
One thing about Thai people is that if you make the effort and learn a small bit of Thai they really appreciate it and you generally get a bit better service. The guy behind the counter was very helpful, even coming from behind his window to point at the correct price for me (because I couldnt' read the Thai sign and work out which one we needed). There are about 5 buses from Hua Hin that go to Krabi. The Government VIP ones go over night and take about 8 hours but cost about 700+ bhat, which is double the price of the normal air-con one (about 350bht). So we've got to be at the bus station at 10am tomorrow to buy our bus ticket for Krabi in time for the 10:30am bus.
So our SE Asia travels start again tomorrw, but this time for 8 hours - so lets hope that the air con works properly this time.
