Canadian bloke was up early again this morning, woke us all up early, and I wasn't happy. My head didn't feel too bad as I'd been drinking a glass of water in between glasses of wine but my mount felt like I'd been licking the bottom of a budgies cage in my sleep. Lee had to get back to the casino for 11am to register for the tournament being held today. I'm not sure he would have gone if we hadn't have been woken up but as we were up he decided to go for it. We grabbed a taxi into town, they're very cheap over here, it works out about 2 UK pounds each to get into town. You pay more than that for a single journey on the tube in London. Lee registered and then we headed to Denny's for breakfast. We were both so tired, I think last night was the latest we've stayed out for ages and it did us both in, we were like Zombies. I was going to head to Queen Street while Lee was playing in the tourney but I was so tired I just sat on the comfy chairs watching the cricket again. Once Lee had gone out of the tournament we decided to head home to get some sleep. As we've sold the car we thought we might move into town tomorrow so that we are a bit more central. We thought we might go to Base, but it's really expensive compared to where we are staying at the moment, so we tried to head down Queen Street to another one that we'd seen called the Circle Plaza. But it was the Farmers Santa Parade and trying to cross the road was a nightmare. I think everyone in Auckland, maybe New Zealand, had turned out for it but after about half an hour we manged to find a gap big enough to barge our way through and over to the other side. We looked at the room in the hostel and it seemed quite nice. The hostel is in, what looks like, an old office building. They have a TV lounge in the lobby which is a bit odd but it's only been open 3 weeks so is reasonably priced for a double room. We had a think but decide to book Base, so arranged all of that when we got back to the hostel, stuck some washing on, then went back to our room for a snooze. Luckily none of our other guests were there. At about 6:30 we woke up, having had about 2 hours sleep, I felt marginally better but could have slept longer. We headed to Parnell Road again, which we have decided is our NZ version of the Angel where we used to live, and headed to, what is described as, one of Auckland's best Indian restaurants - Oh Calcutta. We'd heard a lot about this place and have both been craving a curry for a while so we had high hopes. The restaurant itself was lovely, really nicely decorated with carvings on the wall and real elegant papers and decoration. The staff, dressed in smart Indian dress, were really helpful and friendly, really good service. I had a lamb rogan josh, one of my favourite curries and Lee had a chicken tikka masala with a garlic nan and rice. The food was delicious, really nice and flavoursome, but there was hardly any hotness. It was like eating lamb stew. Kiwi's apparently don't really like spicy food, and you could tell from this curry. It did taste nice but I was disappointed that the skin wasn't peeling off the roof of my mouth and my eyes weren't watering with the spice. I think the food finished us off really because after a belly full of curry we were even more tired than every. It was only a short walk back and tonight, we were the first in bed.
