Well, we haven't been near internet for ages so I thought I should start by at least updating you all with where we are at the moment. I have keep a paper record of where we've been and what we've been doing so I'll fill it all in as and when I get time.

We're currently in Cozad, Nebraska staying with Harold and Judith, friends of Lee's Mum. They're very lovely people who have kindly put us up and made us feel very much at home. The house we are in is amazing, absolutely stunning. I can't begin to describe the view which I just couldn't help but stare at for ages... we're in a valley so you can see for miles. They also have a field behind the house where horses live (including little baby ones!) which beat the sheep behind Lee's brothers house hands down I'm afriad! (sorry Neal & Joanne!). We also saw a humming bird, which neither of us have ever seen in real life before Me, Lee and the Sunset
Me, Lee and the Sunset
. We're quite remote now, probably the remotest place we've stayed so far but it's fantastic. You can't hear anything outside apart from the crickets and insects and an occasional railroad train in the very distance... we managed to find it without too many problems though.

We drove from Lincoln where we stayed last night, via the i80, stopping at Pioneer Village en route in a small town called Minden. http://www.pioneervillage.org/

It's basically a huge collection of Americana. Housed in 20+ buildings on about 20 acres an displaying "...50,000 irreplaceable items of historical value, restored to operating order, arranged in groups and also in the chronological order of their development..."

The 100 antique tractors were my fave! :) It was a gem of a place to go as they had a room full of kitchen appliances so took a few pictures of the very first 1900s Westinghouse Range Cooker and a few Maytag appliances from the 1900s as well. Very, very interesting. The only trouble was it was really hot, so we couldn't stay for very long because it was just too draining to be outside.

I now have around 40 bites so there are some big fat Chicago bugs somewhere rubbing their tummies and I'm doing my best not to scratch them (after telling Lee off about doing it) but it's quite hard not too! Our visit here marks about halfway through our journey now. We've clocked up over 2200 miles so far so it's lucky that gas is quite cheap - about $2.89 a gallon but driving here is great, much better than at home - although you do need your wits about you a a few lessons in learning how to read road signs, or rather work out where they put them in relation to where you turn.

We've been fed and watered well here and are going to turn in soon for a very well deserved nights rest without having to check out at 11am - wahooooooooooo!! (can't tell you how good that is!)

Hi
I'm so loving your travel log. It's great to hear about all the places you're seeing, and the photos are fab. I'm sitting in work contemplating an afternoon of meetings while you 2 are off galavanting round the States! Little jealous here - still! Hope you find your way OK to wherever you're off to next. Have lots of fun & take care. claire xx
