I ran out of credit on my modem yesterday. It was all used up, and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to refill it until I came back to Kampala. But it seems like I wasn't as far away from civilisation as I thought ;) I went to a store and they did it for me! It was funny though because they refill just like you would with a sim card, the modem actually has a sim card inside it that they took out and put in my phone. And then they had to fill the sim card with 85,000Ush using top-up cards they had to scrape (if that's the right word in english...). And they only had small values, so I think they scraped like 40 cards or something to get the codes to refill it with 85,000. Glad I didn't have to sit and do that myself ;)
As I walked home from there a storm came! Although when I tell the locals it was a storm they will probably look at me like I'm an alien and claim it was just a bit of rain. I could hear the thunder for a while and was thinking I would not make it home before the rain. And then half-way home (at the banana stand at the market to be exakt) the wind started. And although there is tarmac on the roads here it's still very sandy so I was all covered in sand when I came home. I had an orange shade to my skin. And the rain came just as I made it home luckily! But now it seems to have stopped... The rain means it is nice and cool. It was SO HOT today out in the field so it's nice that the evenings are damp and cool. I like it! It was the same thing yesterday.
It's soon been four weeks... So crazy! 17 boreholes down, 89 to go!
