Brugge was beautiful and we were real tourists. We did a canal tour and a tour through the chocolate museum (actually very interesting) and obviously a real hit with the girls! We biked the 10km to Brugge from our campsite and spent the day exploring and walking the amazing streets. The Carnival (Jordan is convinced it is haunting her) was set up just out of the main square of Brugge where we sat and waited for the rain shower to pass before our 10km trek back. Jordan could not be convinced to go on any rides what so ever...what have we done to her.
On arrival back at our campsite a New Zealand couple with twin boys (6.5 yrs) pull up opposite our site
Ghent is beautiful and unexpectedly so; we extended our stay here because of the facilities and fantastic bike tracks they have. It helps the beer is very strong and remarkably inexpensive so we are staying well under budget being here. We even managed a game of squash...the knee just held up.
Antwerp was not as beautiful as Ghent but amazing buildings all the same. Our campsite here was only 2km from the town centre. The lady at the campsite reception gave us directions to town, and told us to take the pedestrian tunnel. After biking about 5km I thought something was wrong here so we headed back about 2km. We could not find the tunnel anywhere. So we stopped and asked a man in an ice-cream van. He pointed to a big brown building. He didn't speak English. So we head over to the building and we see elevator doors, thankfully another couple on bikes turned up and we all got inside the elevator with our bikes, then drop down about 40 metres. The doors open up and there is a massive tunnel going under the river for half a km where you then get back on an elevator and arrive back up at street level. The tunnel was packed of people and bikers and very weird! But another experience for the silly Murphy's.
We have left Belgium today and are heading to the Netherlands to meet up with Dennis (ex worker) in Breda.
