Well the Bardeaux region was great. We stayed at a campsite just 2.5kms from St Emilon, a fabulous cobble stoned town with steep narrow streets. We did the right thing and got on our bikes! We spent the days exploring St Emilon and it's many wine shops, touring surrounding vineyards and of course drinking red wine! The weather fined up a bit so it was pleasant but not pleasant enough to keep us there for more than 3 days!
After talking to many other campers and locals we have decided to trek back up north to our luxury holiday home in Paris and continue up to Belgium, Holland and Germany. The weather down south is still not good enough for beaching it, so we may as well do some sightseeing and touring for another month until it heats up a bit.
We stayed in the Loire Valley for a couple of nights where we visited beautiful Chateaux's and biked around the countryside. I don't think Grant wants to see another castle for a while! We were surrounded by about 80 American kids all trying to squeeze in and out of doorways and up and down stairs...poor old spud got lost a couple of times, as he fell into flow with the groups and got swept in the opposite direction to where Jordan, Cam & I were heading.
Most of the campsites are beginning to get more people in them and some even under the age of 70!!! One campsite in Onzain had amazing pools and slides which all open up next week. It is a real Hi-De-Hi place with Bingo and a discotheque on at night and kids games and shows all through the day. I wasn't about to let this information on to Cam as we would never get her to leave. I can only imagine how hideous and loud they must be with kids and frenchies everywhere in season. I am sure in a couple of months we will find out.
