In an effort to get to the wild and wonderful Flores, it was back to Bali for us. We decided to get the fast boat back because as nice as our 6 hour journey over had been, it was still 6 hours. It certainly was fast, but it also mainly wasn't on the water. And it was certainly was bone rattling. We hopped across the ocean for two hours. It's was like a rollercoaster the whole way back. We bounced up off one wave so high, that when we slapped back onto the ocean the front window shattered. That was a bit worrying. But we did get back quickly and before we knew it we were on our bus to Ubud, Bali's cultural capital.

We only had one night in Bali before we flew to Flores so we spent our evening at the very very excellent Balinese Fire Dance. Basically about 40 local guys sat around a large fire chanting "Chak chak chak" while other actors dressed in exquisite costumes acted out the Rayamana - a Hindu myth Acting at the Bali Fire Dance

 . We have no idea what was going on, but the chanting chorus and all the eloborate costumes and over the top acting was great fun to watch.

It finished with a possessed guy walking on and then kicking burning coals at us. You can't beat that for $5 each. Brilliant! We wandered off for some dinner doing our own "chak chak chak" chanting. It's a very catchy chant.

The night finished on a bit of a downer when we spent hours trying to sort out some ridiculous Vodafone problems. Mobile phone companies have to be the most useless organisations in the world (sorry if anyone reading works for one, but you know it's true).

Not to worry, the next morning and we were aboard our little flight out east to Flores.

Just worked out I can comment here... what are you doing messing around with vodaphones anywayz you're supposed to be on hols - no phones, pagers, yada yada - hope you guys are doing okay - I've just had a FANTASTIC week, which I'll send you a blog update about soon xxxxx Jen
