We've just come back from the theatre at Centro Cultural Borges. We watched a show called Quintaesencia.

It was amazing! The show is made up of four short plays - "Diamente", "Melancolico", "Urabano" and "Spiritual". Traditional and contemporary elements
of tango are used in the show. The dancers were fantastic, they dance with such passion and accuracy. There are lot's of tango shows in BA but we thought we'd watch this show instead as we've been seeing a lot of traditional tango just from attending tango claases.
Yesterday, we stayed for the Milonga after our class at Confiteria Ideal. I wish I'd taken my camera with me. It was great watching experienced people dance. There was one man who must have been in his late 80's, if not in his 90's. He was all dressed up in his suit and hat. Later on, there was a perfomance by a belly dancer and they had a live band playing tango music.

We've been here in BA for just over a week now. I really like it here. We've been going to tango classes everyday and we both have a pair of tango shoes now. The tango teachers here are very good.
We've been trying out a variety of classes:
Confiteria Ideal - Very poplular among tourists, the teachers here are good. Daytime - 12 pesos, evening - 20 pesos.
Abasto Plaza Hotel - Extremely good teachers. Great for beginners but they encourage you to take private classes or go to a tango school to progress. We were basically having private tuition as there weren't any other students there. 20 pesos including a drink.
La Escuela De Tango , San Jose - Claudia, the teacher is really nice, she's good as well. She has a beautiful dance studio and we were the only ones taking the class. Double the price of other places and slightly further away from us.
Centro Cultural Borges - They have classes all day, everyday. We went to one being taught by Chiche and Marte but we didn't think they were good teachers. They teach lots of steps but they don't correct you on things like posture, how to move your feet, etc.
Earlier today, we went to the Recoleta Cemetary which is where Eva Peron is buried. We hadn't planned to go there until a Hawaiian guy we met was raving on about it. It's definitely worth a visit. The tombstones there are amazing. They're like mini-apartments with beautiful carvings.
It's starting to get colder here now so we're heading for El Calafate in Patagonia this week before the cold becomes too unbearable down there. Jim on Tuesday and then me on Wednesday. We couldn't get on the same flight unfortunately.
Going to get ready for another tango lesson now.
