We arrived into Paraty yesterday after spending 3 days in Ilha Grande. It was so beautiful and chilled there. We decided to try and kayak to a beach called Lopes Mendes, it´s meant to be a really lovely beach. After 2 hours of kayaking we decided to turn back and head for another beach as the waves were getting strong. Lopes Mendes is meant to be a surfing beach so we may have struggled once we entered it´s waters. Despite not reaching Lopes Mendes, we still enjoyed ourselves. My arms got so tired though so Jim had to attach his kayak to mine and row me back most of the way. My body is still aching from the kayaking.

Now were just relaxing in Paraty, a couple of hours away from Ilha Grande. It´s full of cobbled streets and is really peaceful. Lots of places have been booked up so it´s lucky we managed to get a place for the first night. I think were going on a boat trip tomorrow to lots of islands around here and maybe do a bit of hiking today. There´s meant to be a midnight procession tonight for Easter. Lots of festivities going on here.

We´re gearing ourselves up for some big bus journeys coming up. 6 hours to Sao Paulo and then another 12 to Floranopolis. We´re going to try and hop on a bus straight from Sao Paulo, we don´t really fancy spending time in a city.

The weather here is great now. Hot and sunny!! Poor Jim looks like someone´s been roasting his arms.

Love reading your entries! Makes me have a re-occuring itch!

So much so I have decided to move country for a while and do something crazy... watch this space.

I just quit my job! Feels a bit scary with no income and crazy, with no concrete plans but here goes the ride!
