After our 3 week stint through Indonesia we went back to Singapore and stayed at an awesome home stay for a few nights. Our visit ended up longer than we planned due to some late arriving Bali belly. We were all good by the time we left and headed for Melaka in Malaysia...

Melaka is a pretty cool place overall. It's a fairly small Dutch style town with canals and traditional Dutch architecture in the town square. China town was busy as usual with the markets firing up over the weekend. Melaka had a very Fremantle/arty feel to it based in the port surrounded by a lot of museums and plenty of history....

We left for Malaysia's capital Kuala Lumpur and were preparing ourselves for more city life. Found a busy backpackers in China Town which is right on the verge of their crazy markets. We visited the tallest twin towers in the world, the Petronas Towers and also the Menara KL Skytower. Both with a view as far as you can see and into the mountains. The shopping centres here are amazing... they even have rollercoasters in them.

We left busy and bustling KL and headed for Langkawi Island on a luxury overnight bus! Spent 4 nights on the island but would have likes to stay much longer! It's a pretty quiet island but still has plenty of cool bars and restaurants. We hired a scooter for most of our time there and rode around the whole island. Saw some beautiful waterfalls and mountains and of course some amazing beaches! We went on a cable car ride to the top of one of the mountains and enjoyed some good 'home cooked' meals at the local Irish bar. It's the island of monkeys and eagles and is a very difficult place to leave... It's up there with our favourite places we have visited so far!

Hey looks like you guys are having a great time.
It was funny to see you a few blogs back carrying your back pack and 30 million other bags. Made me remember us with 20 back packs each when we were travelling. Kris
