From Ubud we caught a bus to Padang Bai, and then caught a ferry to Lombok. Took 4 and half hours. Was like being on a refuge boat... Got a bus from the port to Sengiggi, Lombok and stayed there for 3 nights (too long!)!...Looks like a tourist town that got shut down!! Day 1: We hired a scooter and rode up the coast, didn't find any really nice beaches, all have black sand, but saw lots of interesting sights and lots of locals working the land!! Everyone seemed very excited to see a white face!! (look at photos!) Day 2: Must have been an Indonesian public holiday...the beaches were packed. We braved the black sand,  the locals and the touts and went for a swim at the beach! Really warm water, and saw some awesome surf on the reef, with lots of locals surfing. Had a drink at a bar where we got to sit on swings while we drank, then went to a restaurant called The Office for dinner...cheap cocktails went down nicely!! Day 3: Out of there!! Yaya!! Went on a scary bus ride to a boat which then took us on a VERY choppy ride to Gili Trawangan.. Sleeping on boat

Met a couple on the boat called Jemma and Tom, found accommodation with them. Dodgy accommodation, but air con and hot water (which is a luxury apparently!). Weather in Trawangan was pretty miserable. There are no motorbikes or cars, or stray dogs on Gili which was peaceful, but the best was that there was only one tout on the whole island...bliss!! Went on a snorkelling trip on the second day, saw a turtle and some pretty reef. Ate at some cool places while we were there and chilled out alot!! Caught the boat back to Lombok (less choppy) and then caught a bus to the airport to get a flight to Surabaya. Flew on a jet plane...
