We visited the Oklahoma National Memorial today. Wow. It was so moving! The memorial was beautiful. The museum had many pieces of the Federal Building that had survived the bombing. Lost keys, glasses, shoes, and clothing were among the items left behind. Videos of survivors and family stories were on each floor of the museum as well.
The outside part of the memorial includes two big arches that display 9:01 and 9:03. There is a reflection pond between them to stand for the bombing that occurred at 9:02. Next to the pond are rows of bronze chairs that are dedicated to each victim that died in the blast
Later tonight, Brian and I went back to the memorial site. It is even more beautiful at night. Each chair has a glass base that lights up. You can't really tell in my pictures, but it was just breathtaking.
Tomorrow, we will pick up the dogs and head over towards Texas.
Until then...I am still touched by the memorial...
