You go from start to end, and there is no way out. If you go out, it's the completion.
But sometimes, you need to do something within that giant happening that you can recognise from start to finish. (You can't really see life that way)
Some people choose to build a house, or start a business.
Other choose to raise a child or do art.
Me? I made jam
And that, is what I have spent the last day and a bit of my life doing.
It started this morning when we were making Blackberry and Crab Apple Jelly. I mixed everything together and made it all squishy.
But that was all until the afternoon.
Then Tim asked if I wanted to go and pick blackberries again.
Of course I did!
And then something in me convinced Chris that it was a completely good idea to make yet another batch of Jelly.
So I picked the apples straight from the tree.
First step done - harvesting own produce.
Then I cut everything up and boiled it all over again.
Second step done - cooking.
Then sadly I had to leave it up to hang and drip out some of the juice
It wasn't going to be ready until morning, so the process had to go on pause.
So we watched Downton Abbey. I hadn't watched any before and I have been put on strict orders by my mother to watch them all before I go to see the actual film location.
I had thought an early bedtime was on call, given jelly boiling was going to happen at 7:30. Ha - me up at 7:30...
But that didn't happen did it...nooo.
I have spent far too many long nights and possibly a few too many early mornings talking to a wonderful guy from Scotland who I met at the circus festival in France. Why we choose such ridiculous times to chat is beyond me, because I keep falling asleep whilst talking (sorry!).
But I do love talking to him so I don't mind a bit of lateness...for the time being anyway.
But tonight, I think it hit 2am.
5 hours sleep? Not exactly what I had planned.
But oh well....things must. (I think I got that of Mother Bear)
