We took an overnight bus from Salta to Mercedes, via Corrientes. For some reason we stopped for a couple of hours in the middle of the night, and also seemed to get lost, as the bus then did a couple of three-point turns. Due to this we were quite bit later arriving in Corrientes, and therefore Mercedes, than hoped.
We were hoping to get straight on a bus to Colonia Carlos Pellegrini, but due to the delays in the night we missed the one bus a day by about an hour and had to spend the night in Mercedes. We went looking for the hostel, but it had moved since last time we were there, and since the map was printed, and all we found was an empty building. At this point it was starting to rain quite heavily, and we were wondering what to do when a couple of young Argentinians in a car stopped to help. They phoned their mother to find out where the hostel had moved to, and then gave us a lift there, thereby saving us from drowning.
The hostel was perfectly fine, with hot water and a TV, and we got some more information about the buses out.
We had a nice steak meal at the one restaurant in town, on the square, and got an early night. The next day, Friday, we took the chicken bus out to Colonia Carlos Pellegrini.
