Flew to Madrid-arrived early afternoon. We split up to check inot our hotels. Ours was near the Grand Via. The odd shaped elevators and they always stopped on the 2nd floor. Met Michelle under the Tio Pepe sign in the Plaza del Sol and ate at a local restaurant-ravioli.
Toured the Palace-beautiful! Chandeliers, asian decor, roccocco sculted ceilings. Nice armory. Many different languages heard.
The loud party in the cafeteria upstairs with the dancer and the music-it was hot up there.
Did some shopping, changed shoes and Diana bought a costume at a nearby shop.
Had sushi next door to our hotel-Yummy!
Plaza Major-huge, beautiful. Found the "cave bars" which are on lower streets than the Plaza but are not underground. Saw the "oldest resaurant in the world" and had tapas at the mushroom place. Mushroom sculptures on the ceiling. Stopped for ice cream and wandered back to the hotel. We have an early flight to Aswan tomorrow.
