First stop...factory outlet shops. Oregon state has no tax so shopping here is good value! We were able to get an awesome deal on a digital camera...canon couldn't repair our wet galapagos one but we will get money back on travel insurance so it made sense to buy it when we didn't have to pay tax and got a foreigners discount on top of that! Phin was extra excited as it was the new model of our old one but in blue!!!
A quick stop at the Nike shop and we were on the road again.
Phin wanted to check out a cool building a little out of the way so we drove to Mount Angel Abbey...supposedly one of the buildings here was architecturally designed..but we were a little confused as nothing looked too amazing...nice farming scenery though
Bend here we come! As we drove to Bend we did notice it get a fair bit chillier...a bit of snow on the road...then a lot and all of a sudden we were clearly on a mountain pass. Thick, high snow covering everything...leafless and nearly branchless trees and signs to a ski field! We keep thinking we have left snow and there it is again!
As we continued to Bend, the snow dissipated and we were back at 8 degrees. We rolled into town and pulled over at the Bend Brewing company. It's hilarious how strict they are on i.d. - we both had drivers licenses that say we are 25 but he still made us get our passports!
After dinner we drove to a campsite 10minutes out of town and at 4 degrees we decided to sleep in the car..
Good decision...we woke in the morning and as I rolled out of the car, I looked around and there was snow all over the grass..and the car! We couldn't believe that we had more snow again! We can't seem to escape it!
We had an amazing breakfast at a cottage and then had a wander around the boutique shops of old town Bend before we got back in the car for the long day of driving ahead.
