Phin had read in the guide book that the town of La Push on the coast was pretty cool, so we headed there to check out the beaches. For those twilight fans..the beach scenes were filmed there..the beach was awesome. Massive rocks out in the ocean and a true pebble beach. River pebbles covered the sand along with logs of massive trees that had washed up on the shore. Really cool.
Just after lunch we pulled into the town of Forks...aka Twilight town following the book and movie obsession!! The town had literally been "twilighterised"! Every second shop has paraphenalia. One shop "dazzled by twilight" has life size cut outs to have photos with and more movie memorabilia than you can imagine. The book is based here but nearly all the movie was filmed in other parts of Washington state. The town however has selected local houses that best represent those depicted in the books so that they can run twilight tours of the town! Hilarious! My favourite part was the sign that was similar to the "fire danger scale" but was "Vampire danger" and set to "very high"!
