We took the back-roads into Tam Coc and found the mountain with the shrine without too much difficulty. We parked the bikes and made the ascent. The shrine of the Goddess of Mercy and an adjacent dragon weren't much to see, but the view of the river and surrounding mountains were definitely worth the climb.
It was our last day in Vietnam. We were flying back to Bangkok that night. But before we hopped on a bus heading for Hanoi, there were a few more things we wanted to do. First we wanted to climb to a shrine we had spotted during our boat ride two days prior. It was on the top of a mountain and appeared to command a great view of the river valley below. Secondly, we wanted to visit and the little kids in Tam Coc again and bring them some goodies. We had told the story to Felix and he was eager to meet them as well, so he came along with us.
