Atlanta! Kathy and I grabbed a train from the airport into the city and started hitting the pavements. We walked down to the Martin Luther King Memorial and to the church where he co-pastored. We watched a short doco over at the museum and had a look around and then went across the road to the church. A guide did an awesome rendition of his speech 'I believe’ in the basement. We then went up and checked out the church for a bit before going back up the street and hoeing into a fish fry that was on offer.
We then walked to Centennial Olympic park and watched the kids playing in the water. Too cute. Then we watched the water feature to music.
Quick look inside CNN building and then we walked back to the train centre and had a look in Underground Atlanta before our day was done.
A lot of ‘off their face’ people around and preachers on the streets. And Sue, the people in NY who you thought were talking to themselves really loudly but are actually talking on their cell phones via hands free sets? Well the ones in Atlanta ARE freaken talking to themselves! Because they are off their trolleys!
The next day Kathy and Peter drove me to Covington which was about 40 mins away from our Hotel. I took the Mystic Falls tour and we went to locations where the series is shot. The Vampire Diaries for anyone that doesn't know! For others, you will prob recognise some of the houses.
Such cute wee houses in this town. And big extravagant ones of course. Reminds me a little bit of Wakefield, my wee village in Nelson. But I think Covington is even smaller. Plus our houses are obviously more English. Last stop was Scoops where the cast and crew apparently like to go. First decent coffee! Whoop! Plus an awesome lime icecream! The tour made me think of Sharyn a bit. I felt a little sad that I wouldn't be able to share this with her.
Check out the pics dudes and dudettes! Plus there is a quick video of the water feature to music in Olympic park.
Next stop, Louisiana!
