Ok, if you want somewhere to chill for a while and don't care about fancy, I highly recommend Whispers Resort. The place is awesome.  We chilled here for a week, starting most mornings with a swim.  Pretty darn hot and muggy here.  There are beaches galore to pick from too.  One of the days we went to Clearwater Marine Aquarium.

They seem to be cashing in on a movie that was made about one of the dolphins here (Dolphins Tale).  She basically lost her tail in netting and then a fiction movie was made based on this.  While kind of cute and all, I wonder how long they can cash in on this for their area.  And the movie was not exactly one for the history books (not my history book anyway).  I did find the tanks pretty darn small too which I didn’t like very much.  But once again some of the fish and mammals probably wouldn’t make it in the wild.  But still, tanks were pretty small.  Enough said.

Another day we visited the Florida Holocaust Museum.  Unfortunately we were not allowed to take photos inside.  Very interesting and sad (obviously).  Inside the museum was an actual boxcar from a train used to transport the Jewish people to the concentration camps.  While I knew most of the story, there were some interesting and sad display items.  Letters to parents, children etc.  I think I turned into Sue in this one and ended up reading EVERYTHING.  I guess I found it more interesting than Ellis Island for some reason.   As depressing as it was, I highly enjoyed it.  Sound contradictory I know.  It is unbelievable how this happened.  But what is of concern, is that it is actually everywhere just waiting to happen again.  Just think on that.  I'm not being melo-dramatic and I'm not just talking about Jewish people.  Gripes, this post is sounding depressing!  Sorry!  It's not meant to be.
One evening we spotted a fire over the water when we were out the back having dinner on the pier.  Just a wee bit of free entertainment.  Don't worry, an engine turned up and put it out within a minute.

Check out this!  Crochet.  Seen these in a St Petersburg shop.  They are sea creatures, seaweed, you name it!  All crocheted.

I was torn between hysterical laughter and freaken goddamn awe at the work involved.  Just for you Linda!!!! Too funneeee!

Once again.  Great place.  Next stop Orlando.  I’ll try not to take the mickey out of Mickey.

Teehee! The sea gulls in the shadow of an umbrella xD Priceless!!
I've been to a Holocaust museum once, in Budapest I think. They had a courtyard there with the tree [made of some metal, not sure which one] and on each leaf was a name of a person who died during the period :S So, so sad...
It's not depressing but it is kind of cruel reality thing that we often close our eyes to until it's too late :P Like, you know, we don't really learn from mistakes. Not really.
