Arrived in Los Angeles well before time with minimal sleep.  Customs was major unfun.  I started in a huge line that was moving, only to be moved twice into smaller lines that didn't move!  By the time I got to baggage claim I think my bag was the last one to be collected.  Poor little bag sitting there all by its lonesome.  By the time I made it out, I was wondering whether I was actually free!

Found my shuttle after nearly being run over a few times.  Was pretty disoriented with all the cars coming from the other direction!

As I was only in LA for the night, I thought I should be brave and go and look at something, so I grabbed a taxi to Venice Beach.  My big sis recommended going to check it out as she had found it quite interesting.  My driver said next to nothing on the way there.  Which was rather funny as I ended up with the same guy on the way back and he talked non-stop!  Sometimes a little hard to understand as he had a strong African accent.
"Are you Australian"
'No, New Zealand"
"Oh, the place with all the sheeps"
(yes, the s is meant to be there).
He rattled on for a while and then asked how NZ made its money.  I said "We grow lots of sheeps".  He got my little joke anyway.

Venice Beach
Lots of things to look at.  Loved the freaky people.  Took too many photos to post here. But here is a few anyway.
The Beach

Check Mr Rope Head out!
Yeah sorry, dogs!  I've only seen one Hungarian Puli in NZ so I had to snap a few pics of him.  Not sure how common they are here.  By the time I sorted out my sports mode on the cam though he was a bit hot so I missed a lot of good flying rope photos!
Mr Chihuahua was a bit pissed off he was missing out on all the fun.

Trash Can Dude.  No, you don't put trash in the bin.  You take it out and feed the seagulls, people!  Love it.

Saved the best till last.  Painted fire truck with dude in dress = freaken awesome!  Sorry you can't see the feather in the hat but it completed the beauty of the whole package.  Love it.

I ended up splitting as I had a bad headache and it was getting pretty late.  Regret not getting more pics of the funky wee shops.  Grabbed a salad and hit the hay about 11pm only to be woken by Aaron at 11.30pm when he sent me a text.  Up at 4am to get another plane..

Catcha in New York!

Random odd thought.  I find it strange seeing all the fire hydrants sticking up out of the ground.  Yes I know they should be, but just not used to seeing that.

Neat that you got to fly in during the day = much more to see. I have only flown in at night, and although the lights look awesome, its hard to tell where abouts you are! Have a blast in New York - keep an eye out for the steam that comes out in the streets - just like in the movies!
