Whew!!!
I'm here at last. This morning, a blizzard flew into Calgary, causing white-out conditions, and to tell you the truth, I'm pretty impressed that we were able to take off at all! The plane had to be de-iced three (3) times because the anti-freeze kept freezing! The tarmac was GREEN and gooey... mmmm. It was pretty interesting to watch, though, and Lord knows that we had a lot of opportunity to watch! So... we left an hour-and-a-half late, through yucky turbulence. Yay! Once in the air, we were informed that the turbulence wouldn't be ending, possible for the entire flight, as air traffic control said that the air was bad at all altitudes. So... I read... and got nauseous!
Our landing in California was nasty as we landed in a thunder storm - the guy in front of me hit his head on the window because it was so rough. But... he turned out to be Bill Avery the producer of the Young Canadians, with which I performed for ten years, so we had a nice chat. It turned out that his daughter Rachel, who I've known since childhood was picking him up, so we had a nice visit there, and plan to get coffee sometime during my visit. Then.... SUPER SHUTTLE. Umm.... bad news. I've always had good luck with them transporting to and from the airport in ,y US destinations, but let's say that this was a less-than-thrilling experience. There was no PASADENA shuttle running, so they threw 4 of us who were traveling to Pasadena in a MIDTOWN van, with another 4 people. 3 HOURS LATER, I was at my hotel.... wow! After getting checked in, I went through all of my forms and contracts, and did some unpacking. I ordered a fantastic calzone to my room along with a Greek salad that I plan to eat tomorrow. This pizza was INCREDIBLE! (or maybe I was just exhausted and starving?!) Then... to bed. Big day tomorrow... two shoe fittings and lunch with Krista, the Production Assistant. Night!
