ANYWHOOOOO ok yesterday where should I start!!!
The smell of Money means when you get out of the car and it smells rancidly like FISH and makes you want to throw up"!!! But fish was money back then so ok.... I would like to be poor!!!
ALSO Icelanders will sniff sniff sniff their noses rather than blow them!!!!
there is a place in Reykjavik where you say the "hams" go- that means blond girls haha and let me tell you they were NOT nice to me!!
I am taller than allot of people here!!! WHATTTT!!!!
Icelanders have NICE houses from the inside!
Icelanders are very VERY giving people!!!
Everyone thinks I am Icelandic and speaks to me in Icelandic!!!
ANYWHOOO DAY 1
Went to the super market stocked up! their super markets are not that NICE meaning they seem kind of ugly and like a chore to go through
OH and she made me try lifrapylsa that is sheep's fat and liver mixed up in sheep's stomach ugghhhh well I guess you can tell. how much I loved it!
we then went to where Vigdis works a print factory! very cool! saw my gay boyfriend Atli who was very excited to know that we would be back for the weekend to party with him!!
we started our trip around the country!!! 1st waterfall was svliandsfoss it was SO COOL and we got to walk behind it! yes a little wet after wards!!!
2nd waterfall sköqafoss was also very cool and BIG theWHATTTT!!!! water was COLLLLDDD
we drove through amazing valleys with cows horses streams and mountains!
we then stayed the night in VIK
we actually stayed at Vigdis´s NEW uncles place! 5 years ago her mother found out she had a brother! Ok good for us! they BARBIQUUUEEDDD YUM well I thought it was steak at first then found out it was lamb still ok but not steak but everything else was AMAZING!!! we went to the local "pub" haha then went back and sat in the hot tub then we watched desperate housewives and the wife gave us yummy goodies I felt like a little kid ona sleep over! they did not speak English but I didn´t care it was cool just to be there!
Vik is a little smalllll town in the midst of mountains and the sea
Got up went to the swimming pool ok so I thought we wee actually going to swim but NO we went and sat in the hot tub gossipping and drank coffee ughhh ok sounds good to me!!!
we then went to this "church" where basically the volcano was erupting and everyone gathered in the church and the priest prayed so hard that the lava went around the church and well there was NO church there was justa floor we laughed but whatever was good to stretch our legs!
we then went to Europe's largest glacier!!! VERY COOL! their national park is all around there as well!!!
OK so a few quirks to do while driving!! SO if youa re driving and get to a bridge where it narrows to only 1 lane you have to exhale ALLLL your breath this is to apparently make you lighter!!! much fun until you get stuck behind someone ona LONG bridge!!! you almost pass out trying to get to the other side!!
ALSO they have these grates that are just before the bridges these are so goats and sheep don't cross so when you go over them you are suppose to make the sound of a goat!!!
Meeehhheeeehhee- Icelandic!!! Who would have known our goats spoke different languages!!!
we then picked up our second hitchhiker!!! I wa slike ughh he looks weird... ughh but too late we had already topped
AND when we got up closet o him he was all burnt his nose had almost fallen off!!! and he WAS WEIRD!!! haha but he was in the car with us for 2 hours! I thought perhaps we were going to be murdered from behind!!! after wards Vigdis even said she felt weird!!! haha GREAATTT
SOOO we got to Hofn and we slept in the AIRPORT everyone left this tiny little airport and we slept in this tiny room with 2 benches and 2 chairs!!! IT was kind of cool but trying to go to bed early cause they would wake us up at 7 am was hard with the sun blaring down the whole night!
I had called Hulda (Uncle Stefan was kind enough to email me a list of relatives with names numbers email addresses how we were related and how well their English was!!! wow really awesome THANKS UNCLE STEF!!) so I emailed some and we printed out a copy BUT we left it at the house haha so we called Vigdis´s new family and got 2 of the numbers I had emailed and she made me call Hulda from eskeifjörður I was like WHAT ME CALL
So today we got up EARLY went to 2 museum's first one was more for Icelandic people or people like Uncle Stefan!!! haha! The second one was weird a stone collector haha ok... anyways the place was FILLLEEEDDD with TONS of crazy stones!!! and that was the day so far! tomorrow we are going to meet up with Hulda in Myvatin! Where I can thank thank thank her!
I WAS going to get a bottle of wine for her BUT it is really WEIRD here in Iceland where most of the places are only open 5-6 and not in every town. So hopefully tomorrow we will make it to a place and I can bu 2 bottles of wine before we meet them!!!
Havina brilliant time!
