We stopped at Warrnambool for lunch & kept on the road, passing into South Australia & we reached Mt Gambier for our second night. Mt Gambier is a lovely little town & worthy of an explore at a later date. We did check out the Blue Lake in the morning before setting off, & it proved to be worth the little walk.
I must say at this point, Dad was still trying to find his feet in the van
. Obviously I have a routine when setting up & taking down, & everything has its place, but Dad was still trying to work it all out. I had told him to sit back & relax & there was plenty of time to learn. We've only had one accident in the van so far, which was the Billy (kettle to you Poms) being knocked of the stove whilst being boiled.. Luckily it hadn't been on for long so wasn't hot, but the water went everywhere.. It was a mad panic dash to soak as much up as possible & get the back door open to let it all out - not an easy feat when you have a bike locked on the back which prevents the door being opened!! But we managed it & after a few tea towels & a roll of kitchen roll, the floor was sparkling clean! Well, it needed a wash anyway!!
We woke to the birds singing & we both hoped for calmer weather, but unfortunately we weren't that lucky! The rain had stopped but the wind was still quite intense. After organizing brekkie, we set off for Warrnambool & stopped to check out London Bridge - given the wind, you literally had to brace yourself against it & stand solid! I'm amazed I got some clear pictures given the buffeting I got!!
