We got up shortly after 8:00 and had a big breakfast.  I had a western omelet, home fries, sausage, yogurt and OJ.  Larry and Derek also had a waffle.  We left about 10:15.  We did a little shopping before leaving town.  We drove to Usinger's and parked in their lot.  We bought some bratwurst and pretzel buns.  Then we went back to the Milwaukee Cheese Mart and got some white and yellow cheese curds.  Our next stop was the Lakeshore Brewery where Derek bought a variety pack.  Our last shopping stop was.... The Harley Davidson Museum.  Derek had to get a shirt for the bartender at the bar where he goes every Friday night.

We headed south on 6th Street and kept going until we could see the Lake to our east.  Then we headed east and found a park along the shore where we could get a good picture of the Milwaukee skyline.  I think it was South Beach Park because there was a beach.  We followed Lake Street south and then Superior and before I knew it we were in St. Francis, Wis and passing the convent of the Lake Franciscans where my friend Sr. Peg used to have her office when she lived there.  Then we passed the road where she lived when she was first there.  St. Francis High School was in her back yard.  Our next quest was to find the St. Francis Brewery and Restaurant on Kinnickinnic Ave.  We found it and went in.  It is definitely a microbrewery as the whole brewery was in a room about 15' by 25'.  The restaurant was really nice and everything was really new.  Larry and Derek got the beer sampler of 8 different beers: KK Weiss,Kitzinger Kolsch, Archbishop Amber, Octoberfest, Envy IPA, Givum Helles,South Shore Stout and Mariner Nut Brown Ale,   I had  two of the best Root Beers ever.  It was Maple flavored and a Craft Rootbeer.  Larry and I got soft pretzels with Beer Soup for dipping them in.  It was made with their Kolsch beer and three kinds of cheese and it was scrumptious.  They had pictures of St. Francis, the Franciscan convent, and a statue of St. Francis on the veranda.

After lunch we drove back to the lake and passed Peg's road again and this time Larry turned and we drove to the Apartment Complex and turned around in the steep driveway.  Then we drove south again and pulled down a road and parked and walked back north along the shore.  Today it was warm and sunny. We walked for about 45 minutes.  We decided not to get on the freeway but took back roads all the way to Chicago.  It took forever but we did get to see South Milwaukee, Racine, Waukegan, Kenosha, Lake Forest, Morton Grove, Skokie and others.

We got to our hotel about 5:30 and then took some time to sit still. It was after 6:00 when we decided to head out.   First we went in search of the Unfinished Hofbrau House Chicago.  After a couple of wrong turns we found it. It is under-roof and the sign is on it, but it is far from done. We will have to make another trip to Chicago when it is completed. Next we went to Gino's East Pizza for supper.  Larry got Goose Island Green Line Pale Ale and Derek got The Anti-Hero IPA from Revolution Brewing of Chicago. We ordered a Deep Dish Supreme which took 40 minutes to fix. But it was way worth it. The crust was incredible, the cheese was put on next, and then the sauce etc.  We had to eat most of it with a knife and fork. There were roasted tomatoes in the sauce and every ingredient was very fresh. The only negative was that our waiter was very slow getting drinks and the bill.

When we got back to the hotel we checked email and skyped with Erin who had been to the Rock Bottom Brewery in Bellevue last night to watch the Huskies football game.  They beat Stanford.  She said she is going to a Sports Bar tomorrow to watch the OSU game.  We planned our itinerary for tomorrow and went to bed.
