Show trip route
We found Erin dressed and by the pool and had some lunch in the Garden Café. We each had different light lunches but we all had ice cream for dessert. We went to the Bliss Lounge at 1:00 for Music Trivia. The DJ played 20 songs and we had to write down the Title and Author of the song for one point each. We got 18 points but lost to a couple who had 20. We were given cards to have signed whenever we played a game. If you win, you get two places signed. It was fun. We also went to the library so I could check out a book. I got the 5th Horseman by James Patterson but I think I have already read it. After that Erin and Larry got in the hot tub and Derek and I stayed at our poolside table and wait for the Rum Punch Party. Shortly after we had gotten rum punch for ourselves and for them, Derek went to check to see if they were coming but they already had rum punch in the hot tub. It wasn't long until Larry came to tell me that he had met a woman and her daughter in the hot tub who live on Walnut Street in Galena. Rose McCoy is a mail carrier and her daughter just graduated from Columbus State. This trip was her daughter’s graduation present. We talked for quite a while about such a small world, cruising, and people we knew in common. After Erin and Larry changed we did four laps of the deck. Next we went to Bar City for beers. I just read my book. Two rum punches were enough alcohol for me. While we were there, Name That Tune with Tatiana started and we participated. She played a tune on the piano and we had to write the title. We had a harder time with this, probably because it was mostly pop, show tunes, and classical. We recognized most of the songs but only got 4 out of 15 correct. When it finished the sun was setting, so we went out and took pictures. The sunset was gorgeous but the afterglow was even more spectacular.
When the glow was darkening, we went to our cabins and changed for supper. We went to the Summer Palace for a table. It was a lot busier than last night, so we couldn’t request to have Joseph for our server. We were given a table in the extension where we couldn’t hear the piano player but it was nice and quiet with a sea view. We sat at a large table for six all facing the sea view. For starters, Larry, Derek and I had Pumpkin, Fennel and Arugula Salad and Erin had Cream of Broccoli Soup. Larry, Erin and I had the Chef’s Special, Pinacolada Chicken with Mexican Rice and Pineapple Salsa. Derek had Thai Chicken and Shrimp in Coconut Sauce over rice. For dessert Erin and I had carrot cake, Larry had custard and Derek had lime sherbet. We liked the size of the portions because we didn’t get stuffed. Again it was a very tasty meal but the desserts were not as good as the key lime pie last night.
After supper we went to the Spinnaker Lounge to get a seat for the Comedy Show at 8:30. We got there well ahead of time and we were glad. It filled up fast. While we waited a band was playing Soul Music and R and B. Larry and Derek had another beer. The comedian was Darryl Joyce who is from Columbus. He was very funny and kept us entertained for 45 minutes. I was tired so we went back to the rooms. We had towel animals on our beds. In our room was an elephant. Derek and Larry had a dog. There was just one animal in each cabin, unlike Holland American where there was an animal on each bed each night. I read while Erin blogged until we were ready to turn in for the night.
