I didn't have to get up at the crack of dawn to leave today. I got up at 7:00 and had breakfast. Rita and I left for the airport at 7:45. Everything went like clockwork. I was on time all day and even got in a little early to Columbus. On the flight from London to Newark I watched three movies: The Princess Diaries, The Backup Plan and The Last Song (a Nicholas Sparks Book). I started reading Eat, Pray, Live and it is pretty good so far.
When we got in to Newark I had to go through passport control, get my back, have my passport checked again, recheck my baggage, take the air train to another terminal, go through security again, and go to the gate. It was all very organized except the security check to the gate. But I got there in plenty of time. I think some people missed their flights.
The worst part of the day was the almost four hour layover in Newark. It was 103 degrees when we landed and even hotter when we took off at 5:10. Going down the jetway was like walking into a dry sauna. It was easily 50 degrees warmer than when I left London.
Larry was waiting for me when we got to Columbus. My bag came out quickly and we were off to Pei Wei for supper as there was no food in the house. I did very little unpacking and went to bed about 10:00.
September 1, 2010 Wednesday:
I woke up at 3:00, 4:00 and finally got up about 6:30 (11:30 UK time). I was really tired when I went to bed. This morning I got through all my emails and I thought I got through all the snail mail, but when Larry got home from work he showed me another pile from the first two weeks. I unpacked for the most part and got most things put away. I started working on posting my blogs and this is the last one. I searched for flights to go to Seattle to help Erin move into her new condo. I will be gone from September 20-26. When Larry got home we got groceries, after which I fixed a normal meal, creamed chicken on corn bread. It is good to be home, at least for now.
