Today we spent the day hopping on and off a Dublin tour bus setting our own pace looking around Dublin.

We'd decided that we've been overdressing and therefore overheating each day by wearing too many layers to suit the coldest it may get,  so we set off dressed lighter than we usually do...STUPID!

We hopped on our tour bus, an open top double decker, and of course, sat in the open top section and froze!  We stuck it our for about 20 minutes, but when I was finally chilled to my very core, we got smart and went downstairs.  The tour bus was good though, for only 16 Euro each, we received full & lively commentary as we did one full circuit around Dublin, getting a feel for what we wanted to see and what we could miss.

Deciding to get off in the shopping district of O'Connell St for a spot of lunch and a stroll around the street, it turned out to be a 2 hour stop with some lingering in Penny's department store..oops!

We also made the tragic mistake of going to McDonald's for lunch instead of our usual pub lunch of Soup of the Day & a Toastie, big, big mistake!  I don't know how that chain has remained so successful, their food really is atrocious.  Never again.

Hopping back on the bus (eventually) we took ourselves off to see Christ Church Cathedral, which is a magnificent structure.  I could have gazed upon it for hours, but thinking that we had to rush on because it's our last day in Dublin we got back on the bus, and by the time we came around to the next attraction we wanted to get off at, it was nearly 5pm, dark, cold (remember we were under-dressed).  I'd somehow lost track of days, which isn't hard, I usually have to check my phone to find out what day it is, and upon returning to our hotel, I'd worked out that tonight is not our last night in Dublin, we have one more day and night before we travel to Cork....what an idiot!  But, back in the warmth of our hotel, we put down roots and haven't moved.

It's 11.20pm now and having slept through dinner, I'm tempted to go out for a walk to see what's open... feeling a little bit nibbly!
